Dancehall singer Ziza Bafana has questioned Ugandans’ support for local musicians, arguing that many fans appear more protective of foreign artists than their own.

Bafana made the observation following the backlash singer King Saha received after making controversial remarks about Nigerian superstars Wizkid and Burna Boy, whom he reportedly described as faded artists while claiming to be better than them.

The comments sparked heated reactions from fans, with many taking issue with Saha’s comparison and rushing to defend the Nigerian stars.

However, Bafana questioned why Ugandans were so offended by Saha’s remarks, wondering why comments about foreign musicians could generate such strong reactions.

He further argued that many Ugandans go out of their way to defend foreign artists despite having little or nothing to gain from doing so.

Now that you got pissed because King Saha discussed your favourite artists, so somebody talking about non-Ugandan artists hurts that deeply? Now what if he was kidding?

It’s funny how Ugandans try so hard to defend artists whom they don’t benefit from. The man threw a stone in a beehive and it got all the tall and short venting. I swear, I realised Ugandans don’t love their own artists.
