Ugandan musician Rasta Ofaria, real name Bernard Ojaku, has died, leaving the West Nile music fraternity and his fans mourning the loss of one of the region’s celebrated musical legends.
Ofaria, who hailed from West Nile, breathed his last on October 2, 2026, at Arua Regional Referral Hospital.
The late musician was a member of the legendary Ghetto Boyz Crew and had earned recognition as one of the prominent figures in West Nile’s music scene.
His death has left many of his fans, fellow musicians and music lovers grieving, with tributes pouring in for an artiste whose music and personality touched many lives.
Ofaria was also known for his strong support for the National Unity Platform (NUP), openly associating himself with the party and its causes.
NUP Northern Vice-President Lina Zedriga Waru expressed her grief in a message shared on her X account, describing his death as shocking and paying tribute to his musical talent and political commitment.
“It is with utmost shock we learn of the tragic demise of Rasta Ofaria a.k.a Bernard Ojaku of Ghetto Boyz Crew. He very solidly subscribed to the National Unity Platform Party. Remembered for his inspiring music talent. May his soul R.I.P. as we join the family in these trying times.”

Beyond his music career, Ofaria was part of a growing group of Ugandan artistes who have used their platforms to engage in conversations surrounding justice, peace and democratic change.
His death therefore represents a double loss for his supporters — both to the West Nile music community that celebrated his talent and to the causes he publicly championed.
As tributes continue to pour in, fans and fellow artistes are remembering Rasta Ofaria as a passionate musician and a distinctive voice from West Nile whose contribution to the region’s music scene will not easily be forgotten.
