Rapper The Mith has opened up about an embarrassing moment that taught him a lasting lesson about taking the stage while under the influence of alcohol.

The rapper recalled an incident in Mukono where he ended up performing despite not being scheduled to take the stage.

With some “chai mukalu” already in his system, The Mith found himself on stage with a microphone, only to regret the experience later.

Things took a different turn when one of his fans, whom he did not even follow on social media, sent him a direct message calling him out over the performance and warning him never to repeat such a mistake.

For me, it was a performance in Mukono, and I wasn’t supposed to perform. So, I had some chai mukalu in my system, and I got called on stage to perform.

I embarrassed myself because someone sent me a direct message. I wasn’t even following him, but he was my fan, and he was like, ‘You can never do that again.’

The rapper said the fan’s blunt message served as a wake-up call, forcing him to reflect on his conduct whenever he performs before an audience.

According to The Mith, the experience changed his approach to live performances, and he has since made an effort to take the stage sober.

“Since then, every time you see me on stage, I’m sober. I learnt my lesson. It was important for me to see that online.”

@calvinug: Have you ever been called to order by your fans?@TheMithMusic: Yes! I once performed on stage while drunk in Mukono, but a fan later inboxed and warned me about it, so I learned my lesson.#UBCHorizonvibe pic.twitter.com/wCdJRXEX5F
