Ugandan singer Pretty Banks has made it clear that she would not allow a man to dictate whether she should continue with her music career, saying she values her independence and dreams.

Speaking on a podcast, Pretty Banks said she has received marriage proposals from men, but she does not believe marriage should mean giving up control of her career.

“I have gotten people who want to marry me, and it’s not about money that controls me or my music. Be supportive, but don’t rule me. You should support my dream,” she said.

Pretty Banks explained that a man who genuinely loves and supports her should look for ways to help her grow rather than attempting to stop her from making music.

According to the singer, a supportive partner could even establish businesses for her to run alongside her music career instead of asking her to abandon the industry.

She maintained that her independent nature is one of the reasons she takes relationships slowly, insisting that she does not want to be controlled.

“You can’t control me because I have been an independent woman, and that’s why I go slow on relationships,” she added.
