For Almorie Naggayi, the pursuit of the Miss Uganda crown is neither an afterthought nor a sudden ambition. It is the natural culmination of a journey that has, year after year, challenged her to grow, lead, compete, serve, and find her voice. Representing Masaka City and the Central Region as Contestant Number 19, the 19-year-old arrives at this year’s competition with something every queen needs but cannot simply learn in a boot camp: experience.
Her preparation for this moment began long before the Miss Uganda stage. In many ways, the crown is simply bringing together the different worlds she has already learned to navigate.
A Proven Track Record in Global Pageantry
Almorie’s journey in pageantry is marked by historic firsts and international representation. In 2024, she made history as the inaugural Miss Uganda High School 2024/25, stepping into the role at an early age and quickly learning that wearing a crown comes with far more responsibility than looking good in one.
She went on to represent Uganda at Miss Teen International in India, taking the Ugandan flag onto an international platform and gaining first-hand experience of what it means to communicate, connect, and carry yourself with confidence in a room filled with different cultures and perspectives.
That experience did more than add an international pageant title to her story. It gave her a glimpse of the world beyond Uganda and, importantly, taught her how to represent home while standing confidently on a global stage.
Diplomacy, Leadership and a Voice That Knows Its Purpose
Almorie has never been afraid of a room that demands more than a pretty smile. As a former student of Aga Khan High School, she developed a strong interest in global affairs, research and public speaking through the UN Model Debate, experiences that sharpened both her confidence and her ability to engage with complex issues.
Her growth continued through the Foreign Policy and Leadership Program and Early Careers Foreign Policy Analysis, a professional development programme offered by the American Center Kampala in partnership with the U.S. Embassy Kampala, Lincoln Institute of Diplomacy and International Relations, and the Center for Policy and Strategic Studies.
The programme gave her an opportunity to deepen her understanding of foreign policy, diplomacy, international relations, and strategic leadership while learning from practitioners, building networks, and developing the kind of perspective that matters when your voice is expected to represent more than just yourself.
And that is important because Miss Uganda is not simply a beauty title. It is a platform, and Almorie is learning how to use hers.
Athletic Discipline and Professional Versatility
If the stage taught Almorie how to express herself, sport taught her how to stay the course.
Her love for Music, Dance and Drama began early, giving her the confidence and stage presence that now come naturally. She later channelled that energy into competitive sport, becoming a national team swimmer and representing Uganda. Along the way, she also embraced basketball, athletics and swimming, pushing herself across different sporting disciplines while learning the value of consistency, teamwork and showing up even when things get difficult.
Behind much of this journey has been a mother who has been her biggest cheerleader, encouraging Almorie from a young age to keep moving, keep learning and keep challenging herself. The result is a young woman who understands that excellence is rarely about one big moment. It is built through hundreds of small decisions to keep going.
Her curiosity has also taken her beyond pageantry and sport. At NRG Radio, she gained behind-the-scenes experience in media and broadcasting, giving her a different understanding of communication and the power of storytelling. In fashion, she has continued to build her confidence, recently walking the runway for Bold Africa.
Different worlds, different lessons, one increasingly confident young woman.
The Complete Package for Miss Uganda 2026
What makes Almorie compelling is not that she has done one extraordinary thing. It is that she has consistently explored, tested, and developed different sides of herself.
She brings the stage confidence of a seasoned international pageant delegate, the discipline of a national athlete, the curiosity and perspective of a young woman exposed to diplomacy and global affairs, and the relatability of someone who understands media, fashion, sport and youth culture.
At 19, she is still young enough to dream boldly, but experienced enough to understand that a crown is not the destination. It is the responsibility that comes with it.
She is no longer competing under a school banner or within a teenage division. Almorie Naggayi walks into the Miss Uganda 2026 finale as a young Ugandan woman who has already begun preparing for the weight of representation, leadership, and service.
And perhaps that is why Contestant Number 19 feels different.
She is not asking Uganda to imagine what she could become.
She is showing us what she has already been becoming.
