Promoter Nobert Twizire, popularly known as Nobat Events, returned to Makindye Magistrates Court to answer charges related to the alleged theft of Shs1 billion and mismanagement of funds belonging to Kampala and Beyond United Music Promoters SACCO summing to Shs 30 billion.
During the court proceedings, Magistrate Aidah Nanjala first read him a fresh charge of assault against Mubiru Hassan arising from an alleged incident on October 1, 2026, at Kibuye Police Station in Kavule Zone, Makindye Division, Kampala District.
Nobat denied the assault charge and was remanded to Kampala Remand Prison until November 16, 2026.
He was later presented with the file relating to the alleged theft and mismanagement of SACCO funds, the case that had initially brought him before court.
He was granted cash bail of Shs3 million, while his sureties were required to execute non-cash bail bonds of Shs3 million.
As part of his bail conditions, Nobat was ordered to surrender his passport and barred from travelling outside the country until the charges against him are resolved.
Meanwhile, promoter Katende Mohammad, who spearheaded the filing of the case against Nobart, expressed dissatisfaction with the court’s decision to grant him bail.
PM Robinah Nabbanja: Nobat Events will only be released after paying back SACCO money
Katende said he intended to reach out to Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja and President Yoweri Museveni, whom he credited with helping secure Nobat’s arrest, to raise his concerns over the bail decision.
The case stems from allegations surrounding the management of funds belonging to Kampala and Beyond United Music Promoters SACCO.
Nobat remains accused in the matter, and the allegations are yet to be determined by court.
