Former Kawempe South MP Mubarak Munyagwa has said pastors who have criticised social commentator Frank Gashumba over his challenge to born-again Christians have fallen into his trap, arguing that they should demonstrate their alleged miracles instead of insulting him.

Gashumba recently challenged born-again pastors to come forward and perform a miracle by healing a sick person, initially offering Shs200 million before raising the reward to Shs500 million.

His remarks have since attracted backlash from some religious leaders and believers, with Munyagwa now urging the pastors to respond to the challenge through action rather than words.

Speaking about the controversy, Munyagwa argued that the pastors had given Gashumba the reaction he wanted by turning to insults instead of demonstrating the miracles they claim to perform.

“Just show him the miracles you speak of. You can pick one pastor out of you that you think is more holy and come back and resurrect someone who died long ago like Idi Amin or Philly Lutaaya,” Munyagwa said.

He further argued that some of the miracles performed by Jesus in the Bible followed moments when he was challenged or provoked, suggesting that religious leaders should similarly respond to Gashumba by demonstrating their claimed spiritual powers.

Munyagwa also proposed that the challenge be taken to Namboole Stadium, where selected pastors would be given an opportunity to demonstrate their ability to bring the dead back to life.

“Let’s just get three of your best pastors and we converge at Namboole and we bring three dead people and you bring them back to life and we close that chapter,” he added.
