As the Miss Uganda Grand Finale draws closer, the intensity is building, with finalists navigating rigorous training, rehearsals, challenges and the growing pressure that comes with competing for the crown. V&A Sherry, Uganda’s favorite sherry, gave the finalists a well-deserved chance to pause and unwind with an intimate V&A Girls’ Night Out, where the ladies stepped away from the demands of the competition and enjoyed an evening of good company, conversation and the V&A sherry experience.
The contestants traded the intensity of training for an evening of music, dancing and laughter at the V&A Girls Night Out held on Friday, October 2, at the Boot Camp House in Buwaate, as the girls unwound ahead of the Grand Finale.
The evening, which began on a high note, offered the finalists a much-needed break from the demands of the competition. Sophie Asianzu, one of the finalists, said she was up for fun since the bootcamp season has been “tight”.
“Training season is tough, and I am glad that I get the chance to unwind and dance my stress away, have fun with the girls, and recharge for the grand finale,” she said.
Roy Ronald Tumwizere, the Brand Manager V&A, highlighted the importance of the night, saying it was an opportunity for the girls to take a break from the intensity of pageantry competition.
“The boot camp season has been intense. These young women have been challenged physically, mentally and emotionally, so we wanted to give them a moment to step away from the competition, have fun, share moments, and be themselves. Moments like this are a great reminder that as V&A Sherry, we intentionally create spaces where women can connect, recharge and celebrate moments and experiences with those that matter,” Roy said.
The Girls Night Out is part of V&A’s continued support for the Miss Uganda 2026 journey, with the brand supporting the competition from the launch and regional contests through to the final days leading to the crown. The partnership of the Miss Uganda Foundation and the sherry liqueur reflects its continued support for platforms that celebrate women, their ambition and individuality while creating spaces for them to connect and support one another.
Music and dance were the highlight of the night, with sessions from DJ Patra and DJ Krusher who, behind the decks, served the dopest bangers and the House of Motion from Trroy Studios had contestants dancing, laughing and having a good time, creating a relaxed atmosphere away from the rehearsals, judging and preparations that have characterised the boot camp experience.
The evening also offered a glimpse of the camaraderie that has developed among the contestants as they approach the final stage of the competition. After weeks of sharing experiences while competing for the same crown, the night gave them a chance to enjoy each other’s company before the competition reaches its climax.
“I expected a crazy night, and yeah, I got served. Having trained intensely throughout this week, this night out has really been nice,” said Murungi Angel Liz, another finalist.
With the October 10 grand finale closer, the public is encouraged to vote for their contestant via www.africavotes.com as the contestants return to preparing for the final leg of the Miss Uganda journey.
