Singer Mesach Semakula states that over five songs sampled elements from his mega hit song Sigwe Onsimila, including Radio and Weasel’s banger ‘Nyambula’.

Mesach Semakula a.k.a Golden Papa’s catalog is studded with a couple of songs that, according to many, are Uganda’s best-ever songs. One of those is ‘Sigwe Onsimila’.

The song off the Abakazi Abaguma album rocked the airwaves around 2006, and he states that it inspired many artists from the newer generations, including Goodlyfe.

In an interview, Mesach Semakula acknowledges listening to Radio and Weasel’s 2008 song Nyambula and noticing elements from his banger, especially the bass guitar.

He claims that over five other songs also fetched elements from Sigwe Onsimila, but he never really wanted to make it a big issue. In his own words, “it is well.”

I have always known this; I listened to the songs. I know them; there are like five songs all inspired by Sigwe Onsimila, but I’m not ready to mention them.

I did not want to make it a big issue. I didn’t communicate with them (Radio and Weasel), and I have actually never talked about it until today. It is well.
