Musician Martha Mukisa has spoken out against body-shaming, urging people to embrace and love their bodies instead of allowing social media criticism to dictate how they should look.

Martha acknowledged that social media can be toxic, especially when it comes to people’s appearance, but said she has chosen to remain comfortable and confident in her natural body.

“I’ll not do surgery on any part of my body and I’ll remain sexy as I am,” she said, adding that she considers herself a very sexy woman and believes she already possesses what some women seek through plastic surgery.

She questioned how quickly society has moved away from appreciating Black women and embracing self-love, instead turning to body-shaming and constantly finding fault with people’s appearances.

I’m actually not against people who do plastic surgery and make their bodies look better, but I don’t understand the people who always have something negative to say.

The artist revealed that she has come across numerous comments about her body on social media, including a recent one in which someone suggested that Fresh Diary should make her their ambassador simply because of her big breasts.

However, rather than allowing such comments to affect her confidence, Martha said they only motivate her further.

“When people see you in a better place, they always think that what weakens them will weaken you too,” she said, adding that what people think will bring her down instead pushes her towards a better position.

According to her, she is happy and comfortable with her body and has no plans to change it simply to satisfy other people’s expectations.

She encouraged people, especially women, to embrace themselves and appreciate the bodies they were given rather than allowing societal standards to make them feel inadequate.

“We should begin loving ourselves just the way God created us,” she concluded.
