Veteran singer and actress Mariam Ndagire has opened up about what pushed her back to music despite bidding goodbyes 17 years ago.

Mariam Ndagire last had a concert in 2009 with her hit song ‘Majangwa,’ where she announced that she was stepping back to concentrate on her film career. She, however, shocked her fans when she announced her official return with her ‘The Opas of Love’.

The celebrated singer revealed that over time, her fans have been demanding a comeback concert from her after seeing her mates doing the same. She set conditions for herself that she would only consider it if the right promoter was paying her the amount of money she wanted.

“What pushed me back into music was money. People had started asking me why I wasn’t holding a concert since everyone was having one. I said to myself that if someone came with the amount of money I wanted, I would. There is the aspect of money, my respect as an artist and also fulfilling what I want.

Mariam revealed that she was approached by a number of promoters, but they failed to agree on either the ideas, concept, or money, and she chose Twisted Events because she was content with what was offered.

“I want a full concert not half baked things. I prayed to God to get me the right person who will get me my dream concert that was well deserving of my fans. I went with my events promoter because she told me what I wanted to hear and so far, we are moving well. I believe the concert will be amazing,” she said.

The show will happen at Kingdom Kampala on 11th December, and she promises to perform all her old music, which she said will sound brand new given its timeless nature.
