Singer Salongo Siraje’s second and final show at Lugogo Cricket Oval last evening was marked by interruptions as artists competed for opportunities to perform.
The first incident occurred when MC Lwasa, who hails from Nsambya, invited veteran singer Mariam Mulinde to take the stage while Siraje stepped away for a breather.
Mulinde walked on stage as her popular song Okwagala Okutuufu played in the background.
However, before she could proceed with her performance, another MC called upon rising ghetto artist Makufulu Boss, known for his hit Simple Robbery.
Makufulu Boss and his crew reportedly took over the stage, forcing Mulinde to head to the DJ’s booth to retrieve her flash drive and make way for the younger performer.
The interruption did not go down well with some fans, who called on the artists to respect one another and allow performers to complete their sets.
Minutes later, Makufulu Boss faced a similar situation. As the DJ played the introduction to Simple Robbery, fellow artist Fik Gaza reportedly stormed the stage, cutting short his performance and taking over the microphone.
Fik Gaza then entertained the crowd with several of his popular songs, including Banana, Muziki, Sanyu Sanyu and Bukutu, among others.
The incidents raised questions about the concert’s stage management and the coordination of performers, particularly given Mulinde’s experience in Uganda’s music industry.
Kasuku: Why side chick business is paying well
By press time, the veteran singer had not publicly commented on the interruption. It remains to be seen whether she will address the incident or share her views on the importance of professionalism and respect among artists.
While Siraje’s show attracted a bigger audience than his previous concert at the venue, the interruptions involving Mulinde, Makufulu Boss and Fik Gaza threatened to overshadow the music.
However, the show went ahead and climaxed smoothly as Salongo Siraje returned home a happy man after performing for his fans.
