The Uganda Police have revealed that the Makerere University student, Aloyo Nicloline, who undressed on stage during the recently held Freshers Ball, was not in her right state of mind and is currently receiving treatment at Butabika Hospital.

On 31st October, a video of the Makerere Freshers Ball went viral on social media, showing Aloyo undressing and dancing completely nude before a large number of students who were out having fun.

Police, through the Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) spokesperson Racheal Kawala, revealed in an interview that they filed a case of public nuisance against Aloyo.

Upon their investigation, SP Kawala noted that they discovered that Aloyo was suffering from mental illness and was currently receiving medication at the national mental health referral hospital.

“That act was unusual, and we rarely get cases of people undressing before the public. As we investigate to come to a conclusion, she is also receiving the needed treatment at Butabika,” she said.

SP Kawala further advised institutions to work together with the police to see to it that the celebrations are completed successfully to avoid such incidents.

“We condemn such embarrassing actions and the people that attend those celebrations should make sure they enjoy them responsibly. Aloyo might have not been stable but we encourage both boys and girls to respect themselves when they are out there. Dress well and respect your bodies because some have been hurt because of that,” she said.
