2Pac Murder Suspect, Keefe D, Pleads Not Guilty in Las Vegas Court

Duane “Keefe D” Davis, the alleged killer of 2Pac, has officially entered a not guilty plea in a Las Vegas courtroom. The arraignment took place on Thursday, November 2, with Davis represented by a public defender, according to reports by Pitchfork.
This legal representation by a public defender marks a significant shift from Davis’ original choice of attorney, hotshot Las Vegas lawyer Ross Goodman. The change occurred due to a failure to reach an agreement on payment terms, with Davis now asserting his inability to afford a private lawyer. Instead, he is currently being represented by Robert Arroyo and Charles Cano from the public defender’s office.
During the brief period when Ross Goodman represented Keefe D, he voiced his belief that the state’s case was weak and that his client posed no flight risk. Goodman advocated for Davis’s release on his own recognizance (O.R.), emphasizing that Davis had been a resident of Henderson for 11 years and had no intention of fleeing.
The 2Pac murder trial has faced numerous challenges, particularly after nearly 30 years of minimal progress in the case. However, one of the major obstacles in the investigation appears to be Suge Knight’s refusal to testify about the events of September 7, 1996, the night of the fatal shooting.
TMZ interviewed the former Death Row Records co-founder over the phone in October, seeking his perspective on the recent developments in the long-standing homicide investigation involving Keefe D’s arrest.
Keefe D, a 60-year-old former gang member, has been charged with “murder with the use of a deadly weapon with the intent to promote, further or assist a criminal gang.” This marks the first instance of charges being filed in the 27-year-old case.
Suge Knight expressed his surprise at Keefe D’s arrest and emphasized his lack of desire to see him imprisoned. He disclosed a personal connection, stating, “me and Keefe D played on the same Pop Warner football team.” Knight remained neutral about Keefe D’s involvement, whether he had any or not, and conveyed his reluctance to wish prison upon anyone.
Furthermore, Knight challenged the widely held belief that Keefe D’s nephew, Orlando Anderson, was the shooter, asserting that there were only two individuals in the car during the fatal drive-by shooting. He emphasized that neither he nor 2Pac would provide details about the incident. Knight added, “I can tell you this: I never had anything bad to say about Orlando because […] he wasn’t the shooter.”
Keefe D remains the sole living suspect in the case and is alleged to have orchestrated the hit as an act of “retribution” against 2Pac. The retaliation stemmed from an altercation between 2Pac and his entourage with Orlando Anderson in the MGM Grand lobby in Las Vegas on the night of September 7, 1996.
A few hours later, a vehicle pulled up beside 2Pac and Suge Knight’s BMW sedan at the intersection of East Flamingo Road and Koval Lane, opening fire. The rapper was shot four times, while his label boss sustained a head injury from a bullet fragment. 2Pac succumbed to his injuries and passed away in the hospital six days later at the age of 25.

J. Cole Addresses the Long-Awaited Collaborative Album with Kendrick Lamar
In a recent appearance on the A Safe Place podcast, J. Cole shed light on the much-anticipated collaborative album with Kendrick Lamar, a project that fans have eagerly awaited for over a decade. The discussion about the potential project was initiated by Lil Yachty during the podcast.
J. Cole shared insights into the origins of the proposed album and their creative process. He recalled, “In a nutshell, [Kendrick Lamar] had pulled up on me at No I.D.’s spot after we were already building this relationship, and I had these beats at the time and I was playing them for him.”
Their interaction included exchanging beats and ideas. “Some of them had hooks on them, a verse — this, that, and the third. So he took them, and, you know, in that moment, we talked about, ‘Yo, bro, we should do a project.’ At that time, he’s not on like that, but I’m f****n’ with him.”
Despite the initial enthusiasm for the collaboration, J. Cole explained that the timing didn’t align as their individual careers and family responsibilities continued to grow. They eventually had to shelve the idea. He stated, “At one point, it was a real thing. But bro, time and life, we ain’t ever got the chance to go in and do it correctly because that would take time. For us to do something that’s full of our potential, that meets our real potential, you’re gonna need time. At least a year.”
J. Cole acknowledged the challenges of coordinating a project between two successful artists with personal lives and families. He affirmed, “When you got two successful artists with lives and families, that’s hard to do. We put it to bed years ago. But at one point in time, it was a real conversation, for sure.”
He clarified that the project doesn’t consist of a multitude of songs and isn’t simply sitting on a shelf, adding, “It’s not like it’s a ton of songs. It’s not like it’s some album sitting on the shelf somewhere.”
J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar initially began working on the joint album in May 2012. Cole shared at the time, “We actually worked, bouncing ideas, which was great. The vibe was so good that it was like, man, that’s absolutely gonna happen.” He revealed they had around four or five songs together.
Their collaborative history includes J. Cole producing “HiiiPoWeR” for Kendrick Lamar’s Section.80 album in 2011, as well as their joint track “Forbidden Fruit” from Cole’s 2013 album, Born Sinner. Over the years, they’ve also teamed up on songs such as Jeezy’s “American Dream” and DJ Khaled’s “They Ready.”
One of their most sought-after unreleased tracks is “Temptation,” which Kendrick Lamar previewed for fans in a store during the early stages of discussing their collaborative album.

North West, Inspired by Kanye, Dreams Big: Rapper, Basketball Player, and Entrepreneur
North West, the daughter of Kanye West, is displaying her father’s fearless ambition by aspiring to achieve great heights and refusing to be confined by traditional expectations. In a recent I-D profile, the 10-year-old shared her dreams and career aspirations, following in her dad’s footsteps as a rapper while also nurturing her passion for basketball and art.
North’s multifaceted aspirations are evident as she explains, “A basketball player, a rapper, um… Well, when I was seven, I wanted to be a boxer. But now I don’t want to be a boxer.” She plans to explore her artistic talents and utilize them as a means to support her passions, stating, “I’m going to do art on the side. When I’m, like, thirteen, I want to walk dogs, to make money to buy art supplies because everything around here is so expensive.”
North also has her sights set on entrepreneurship and envisions herself taking charge of her parents’ thriving YEEZY and SKIMS businesses in the future. She confidently stated, “So a rapper, a basketball player, and I’m going to make artwork that I sell. Also, one day I want to own Yeezy and SKIMS, and I want to be a business owner.”
For North, basketball is not merely a pastime; it’s a way of life. She views it as an integral part of her identity and reveals, “Yes. Going shopping for people… Basketball, but it’s not a hobby, it’s a lifestyle. And I just love basketball so much.”
North’s preference for staying at her father’s house rather than their Calabasas mansion, as revealed by Kim Kardashian on a recent episode of The Kardashians, highlights her appreciation for the simplicity and normalcy of life with Kanye since her parents’ divorce. Kim recounted North’s perspective, saying, “North, she’ll go to her dad’s. She’ll be like, ‘Dad, is the best! He has it all figured out. He doesn’t have a nanny, he doesn’t have a chef, he doesn’t have security, he lives in an apartment.” North’s fondness for her father’s lifestyle, free from extravagance, is touching and demonstrates her preference for a different kind of richness.
Fans have responded to this scene by understanding that North’s emotions are not about the physical space but about the lifestyle she values. One fan expressed, “I don’t think she’s literally upset about the lack of an apartment lol. She’s upset about the lifestyle. I hope her mom understands that and can address it appropriately.”

Keefe D : Boosie Badazz Shares His Thoughts on 2Pac Murder Suspect’s Arrest
Boosie Badazz, a long-time 2Pac enthusiast, recently offered his perspective on the arrest of Keefe D, the alleged killer of the iconic rapper. In a conversation with VladTV, Boosie discussed the surprising turn of events and the details surrounding Keefe D’s arrest.
Vlad posed the question to the Baton Rouge rapper, inquiring whether he was taken aback by Keefe D’s arrest, considering that the accused killer had previously been granted qualified immunity for admitting his involvement. However, Vlad clarified that the immunity only applied to the statements made by Keefe at the time it was granted. Any similar statements made at a different time could be used against him.
Boosie, initially unaware of this crucial detail, shared his initial reaction to the news of Keefe D’s arrest, stating, “[I was] kind of [surprised], because [Keefe D] been talking about it. And I thought when he got busted or whatever, that he had immunity. So when he got arrested, I was like, immunity must be gone… I thought he’d never get arrested for it.” He added, “I thought if you get immunity, it’s done.”
Boosie also delved into the Dwight Howard sexual assault lawsuit during the interview. His focus was primarily on the aspect of Howard’s admission to being involved in a sexual encounter with another man, as documented in the lawsuit.
While Boosie has been a vocal critic of openly gay figures like Lil Nas X, he advised Howard to be open about his sexuality, speculating that it might actually enhance, rather than hinder, his career. He remarked, “He’ll probably make more money than what he’s making. He’s tall — he’ll be like the symbol [of the LGBTQ community].”
Boosie encouraged Howard to face the issue head-on, stating, “I would tell him confess to the press. Stop playing. If you like what you like, you like what you like! This isn’t 1990. You won’t be banned from certain things.”
He also pointed out that Howard might not want to face potential backlash and emphasized the changing dynamics, particularly for someone who has criticized other players in the past. Boosie added, “The tables are about to turn. Those guys you’ve talked about, they’re going to have something to say.”
Boosie concluded with a bold suggestion, urging Howard to come clean publicly: “You’ve already confessed to doing what you want to do. Just go ahead and confess to the press. Get your tall self on Capitol Hill and confess to the press, man.”
