Performing singer Laika opened up about a past romantic encounter with a fellow showbiz personality.

She revealed that their relationship went as far as intimacy talks before she realised the man might not have been the right match for her intellectually.

“I’ve talked to someone deep and as far as intimacy, and I think he wasn’t the right guy intellectually.”

The curvy and beautiful songstress, known for her candid views, explained that dating in Uganda is sometimes exaggerated, arguing that spending time with someone, sharing meals and enjoying their company can also be considered dating.

According to Laika, she is not opposed to dating someone who can treat her to expensive meals, including steak and seafood, even if the relationship does not necessarily lead to something serious.

In Uganda, dating is over-exaggerated. Dating can be going out with someone and eating food. I can be dating for free food. If someone can take me for steak or seafood every night, why can’t I date you?

With that experience behind her, the singer was asked whether she would consider dating someone else in the entertainment industry.

Laika, who has since become more open-minded about her dating choices as she grows older, said she no longer rules people out based on their professions or backgrounds.

She explained that meaningful conversations, a good character and a person’s potential matter more to her than their job title or status.

Yeah, I don’t discriminate as I used to do. So, I like to just sit and get to know someone. For me, it’s the conversations.

If I love how it’s flowing, I can date even a mechanic, as long as someone is a good person. If they have the potential, I can pour into them.

Fellow singer John Blaq appeared to have a different story when it comes to romance within the entertainment industry.

Why Pastor Sammy Okanya was detained at Katwe Police Station

The Do Dat singer, born John Kasadha, dismissed the possibility of having dated someone in the industry, insisting that he has never even approached a fellow entertainer romantically.

“I’ve never dated anyone in the industry, not even approached one.”

So, while Laika Music is open to love wherever she finds it, John Blaq insists he has never tried his luck with anyone in the showbiz circles.
