Jamaican dancehall star Konshens has dismissed claims that his love for East Africa is driven by money, insisting that his connection with the region goes beyond concerts and financial rewards.

In a statement posted on X on Thursday, October 22, 2026, the Bruk Off Yuh Back hitmaker responded to critics questioning his repeated praise for East Africa, arguing that his support for the region and its artists has been consistent over the years.

Konshens said he celebrates East Africa even when he is not scheduled to perform there, pointing to his appearances on major international stages and platforms as evidence of his longstanding appreciation for the region.

He also challenged critics to identify another international artist who has consistently shown as much love and support to East African musicians through collaborations and remixes.

The Jamaican star highlighted several musical connections with artists from the region, including his collaboration with Ugandan singer A-Pass on Gamululu and his involvement in the remix of Backbencher by Toxic Lyrikali.

He also referenced the Figa remix featuring Kenya’s Ethic Entertainment, noting that some of these collaborations were never officially released.

“East Africa don’t pay me the most, they LOVE me the Most and i was never ever shy about Loving them right back,” Konshens wrote, emphasising that the affection he receives from the region means more to him than the financial rewards.

The dancehall star further suggested that some of his music had not received the recognition it deserved, telling fans that they had overlooked a song he believed should have become a hit.
