Veteran musician Mesach Semakula is gearing up for a major celebration of his musical journey as he prepares to stage his highly anticipated ’50 Years of Greatness’ concert on November 13 at Kingdom Kampala.
The concert is expected to attract several dignitaries, celebrities and music lovers from different walks of life, all set to celebrate the legendary singer’s five decades in the music industry.
With just days left before the big night, the event has received a major boost after the Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, confirmed that he will personally attend the concert.
Calling upon the public to turn up and celebrate with Semakula, the Katikkiro revealed that he will also be part of the celebrations.
“Let us celebrate with him. I will also be present at the concert.”
However, the Katikkiro had a humorous request for photojournalists, asking them not to go overboard with their cameras whenever he makes an appearance.
He jokingly complained that photographers sometimes make it difficult for him to freely enjoy events, revealing how they keep their lenses trained on him even during the most ordinary moments.
“Photojournalists, please don’t take lots of photos of me. You hinder me. When I arrive, you focus all your lenses on me for a long time. When I take water, you zoom in so much, examining whether it is water or something else.”

Despite his playful complaint, the Katikkiro maintained that he would not miss the celebration, emphasising the importance of happiness and enjoying life.
“However, I will be present because happiness is medicine and therapy.”
