Singing female duo Kataleya and Kandle have ruled out quitting music anytime soon, insisting that their passion for the industry and the transformation it has brought to their lives keep them going despite the challenges they face.
According to Kataleya, the duo remain determined to push forward and achieve more, especially whenever they reflect on their humble beginnings and how far they have come.
She explained that music has always been part of their lives, stressing that their journey is driven by passion rather than money alone.
We can’t quit music because we grew up on music. Since we were kids, we’ve been stars from the word go.
Sometimes, when things happen to us, we remember where we came from. It’s not that we came to music to make money. It’s passion. It’s something we do because we love it.
Meanwhile, Kandle opened up about the struggles they endured before breaking into the music industry, revealing that they used to sell clothes at Kajja Market and promote their merchandise on social media.
She said the experience taught them the value of hard work, adding that the changes music has brought to their lives have given them even more reason to keep going.
Before joining the music industry, we used to sell clothes in Kajja Market, and sometimes we could hawk them and post them on social media.
We went through all the hustle until we started making music, and life changed a bit. So there’s nothing that can push me to return to the old lifestyle I lived.

She added that despite the challenges that come with being musicians, seeing fans sing along to their songs makes the journey worthwhile.
“However much music challenges me, it changed my life. Making music and finding an audience singing line for line feels so nice. To every youth still chasing life, don’t let your background define you. You can still make it, and you can still do what you want to do.”
We've worked hard to get where we are and our passion for music keeps us going. We cannot imagine leaving the industry because music has transformed our lives & elevated us to the top scenes – @kandkmusicug.#UBCHorizonvibe pic.twitter.com/nfJazlTjGr
