Singer Kalifah AgaNaga believes that breaking through on the international music scene requires significant financial investment, arguing that the language an artist sings in has little to do with their ability to reach a global audience.

He explained that music is a universal language that allows people to enjoy songs even when they do not understand the words being sung.

“For example, Diamond Platnumz doesn’t sing in English, music is a language. We are always here dancing to Portico music too,” he said, adding that people also enjoy Indian and Chinese movies despite the language barriers.

Kalifah noted that artists and music stakeholders need to understand the dynamics of the music industry, particularly the level of investment required to compete internationally.

Prima Kadarshi calls King Saha a ‘local champion’ in Joshua Baraka debate

According to him, what largely determines whether a song can make an international impact is the budget behind its production, promotion and marketing.

“That is why Joshua Baraka made a $20,000 song because he had the budget,” he revealed, emphasizing that considerable investment is needed for an artist to establish themselves on the global stage.
