Singer Eddy Kenzo has dismissed the longstanding debate over Uganda’s Big Three artists, putting his name off the list.

For a long time, Bebe Cool, Jose Chameleone, and Bobi Wine have been referred to as the pillars of the industry, earning them the name ‘The Big Three’.

Eddy Kenzo, however, during his interview, took his name off the list, emphasizing that it was beneath him. For how far he has gone and what he has achieved, the singer revealed that it was disrespectful to put him on a pedestal with other artists.

“It is disrespectful and undermining for someone to put me under the so-called big three. I keep hearing people saying those things but I feel that is putting me down. All the things I have done, they are unique in their own way. I do not know what they base on to grade the things I have done,” he said.

Kenzo further noted that he didn’t believe in the idea of the big three because he believes every artist is unique in their own way, noting that he was not in competition with any artist because he aims to be different and better.

“People are big in their own way and I do not mind. They can be the big three and it is okay. But to put me in that line is demeaning. The miles I have walked are numberless. All this time, I have never competed with anyone.

I came here to start a foundation of my own. Everyone is unique in their own way just like me. No one can ever be me and I can never be Chameleone or Ssemakula or anybody else. Even an upcoming artist has something he is better at than those he found around, he said.
