Singers Sheebah Karungi and Karole Kasita are in the spotlight following budding artist Dwiz PlayBoi dragging them to the police on allegations that they stole his song.

Karole Kasita and Sheebah last week released the visuals to their collaboration ‘Bukutu’; a fusion of reggaeton and dancehall.

Following the song release, Dwiz PlayBoi was so quick to allege that the song was plagiarized from his ‘Bukutu’ song released last year.

Dwiz further took the matter to the next level as he filed the case of song theft against the two artists at Katwe police Station

“To show that I’m serious about the issue of claiming my song, I have come to seek help from the law at Katwe Police Station to get a reference and see what to do next. I’m here because I have a lot of pain in my heart. I’m here to claim my song that was stolen,” he said.

Dwiz featured in Sheebah Karungi’s Karma Music competitions in 2023 when she was building her label. He claimed that he worked so hard to impress Sheebah and has video evidence of complimenting his talent.

However, as they approached the final, he noted that they were stalled, and even when he emerged as the winner, they never got back to him.

“Our last performance was in Lugogo and I won but after that, I never got any reply from them. I had no access to them and all my resources went to waste. I was given false hope and I took it that the Karma Music Competition was a scam,” he said.

Dwiz released his version of ‘Bukutu’, and he said he invested a lot in marketing it on social media. Because of how popular it was, he believes Sheebah and Karole knew about it, influencing them to release their version.

Despite the song officially belonging to Karole Kasita, Dwiz tagged the plagiarism on Sheebah, claiming that as a leader in the federation, she had to know better.

“Sheebah is a leader and the fact that she gave me false hope, I recovered and did my song and then she ended up taking it. It means she is taking me for childs play. No artist doesn’t know about my song and she put it in her voice. They didn’t steal the title but they stole my concept. And anyone who knows music knows that they copied my idea and attached different lyrics in the verses,” he said.
