Busy Signal, Masicka Hit The Studio With British Group Clean Bandit

The British band Clean Bandit seems inspired to revisit Dancehall-infused sounds for their upcoming 2024 album.

The trio, comprising founder Grace Chatto and brothers Jack and Luke Patterson, are in Jamaica and have so far linked up with Dancehall artists Busy Signal and Masicka for what’s expected to be collaborations on the project. Earlier this month, they announced, “Volume 1, Album mode activated 🚀”, however, details of the title and release date are yet to be confirmed.

The band is known for their electro-pop chart-toppers— including 2016’s Rockabye with Sean Paul and Anne-Marie.

Stay So star Busy Signal, 45, shared clips on Instagram over the weekend, capturing studio sessions with the ‘Bandits.’ Without giving too much away, he showed only snippets of his musical recordings and even a tuneful rendition of Norah Jones’ Don’t Know Why.

Producer IzyBeats and Afro-Pop singer/songwriter/music producer Daramola were also spotted in the mix.

Meanwhile, Masicka was also apparently tapped by the band for musical input, as seen with his studio sessions shared on social media.

The Clean Bandit group gave IG followers views of their stay at Kanopi House by Blue Lagoon, dubbing the resort their “Favourite hotel/place in the world? @kanopi_house”.

Clean Bandit’s Rockabye (2016), with Paul and Anne-Marie, became their second No. 1 in the United Kingdom and also reached No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100. It also topped the charts in over 28 other countries.

The song is currently certified 3X Platinum in the US (3 million units), 4X Platinum in the UK (2.4 million), 2X Platinum in Germany (800,000 units), 3X Platinum in Poland (750,000 units), and 9X Platinum in Canada (720,000 units).

It appeared on the band’s What Is Love? album in 2018.

They have also recorded with other Jamaican artists, namely Stylo G, on a song dubbed Come Over (2014) that has successfully amassed over 33 million YouTube views.

They also recruited Beenie Man and Konshens in 2020 for a remix of their single, Tick Tock.
